Although I am on target with my long runs I am a bit behind with my total mileage from this week finishing today. Ran 33.50 instead of 39. I am concerned about the heavy mileage before the 20 mile race this week. I would like an easier week and the Tues 8 mile + efforts tis a killer for me. Can you suggest an alteration then I can ramp up again after the 20 mile race?
Plans do change and life gets in the way so don’t worry if you don’t always do the exact mileage each week. I’ve not got your plan in front of me but what I’d say is come to efforts, don’t run 8 miles though, just do efforts and use first 2 to warm up as when you’re having an easier week. you need quality over quantity.
Have an extra rest day and run very easy 3 on Saturday. If you don’t want to do Tuesday have that as your extra rest day. Very exciting 20 mile race, a good time to practice gels and water at every opportunity. Even if just a sip. I’m running Bath half so won’t be there I’ll be with you in spirit though x
